Quiz your students on roman architecture in a virtual field trip through Pompeii. Immerse your workforce in hypothetical situations to prepare them. Or let your corporate learners explore every aspect of their new position without interrupting actual work processes. Virtual Reality (VR) or 360º technology has found its way into training across almost every industry and subject. And for good reason. Creating virtual twins and 360º simulations for training is safer, less intrusive, more scalable than on-site practice, and much more realistic than passive powerpoints.

3DVista optimized its workflow and functions to all things e-learning: Quiz Cards, Scores, Gamification and automatic LMS integration allow you to use 360º virtual tours as canvas for a more immersive, interactive and life-like training. Leverage existing material, put it into context and start yielding better results. Create virtual twins of your factory and send your workforce on a hazard hunt or (guided) discovery tour with clickable info hotspots and simulations. Hands-on training for the masses.

3DVista

Having been one of the pioneers for virtual tour technology since 1999, 3DVista has accompanied many companies on their journey towards a more immersive digital learning approach. "They all leverage VR for better and more scalable trainings with content that sticks. Discovery Learning, Facility Tours, Training Simulations, Health & Safety Quizzes and Hazard Hunts are just a few applications that the training industry has adopted VR in" says Jose Ruiz, CEO of 3DVista.

With virtual reality, you’re engaging the senses, emotions and cognitive functions of the brain, tapping into the most powerful aspects of retention. Now, from manufacturing to customer service, organizations are jumping on board, realizing that virtual tours in training can actually affect their bottom line.

VR knowledge retention

VR training is quickly becoming one of the most powerful learning technologies and should be considered a major advantage for any company’s corporate learning strategy.

Gamification

When a company appropriates virtual tours in their training programs, they drastically improve the level of attention and engagement measured. And whoever pays more attention, retains the knowledge learnt better. If, on top of that, you combine that with a gaming approach you'll set an additional, inherent incentive for performance improvement. Corporate learners can explore new worlds, battle bosses, and earn badges while they build their skills.

Play and fun and discovery-based learning.

Gamification

Discovery-based learning, reward systems and achievements. Those are but a couple of mechanisms involved in gamification and game-based learning that you should use to your advantage in training.

Quiz Cards

Quiz Cards, as the name would suggest, allow you to quiz your virtual tour visitors at any point in the tour. They can also be conditioned on a previous action (think of having discovered a hidden hazard in the scene, which will subsequently pop up the quiz card that asks to specify the hazard). Apart from questions and answers (simple questions or multiple choice) a quiz card can carry all kinds of media, including video, photos, 360º videos, panoramas or 3D models.

You, as the author of the tour, can decide whether a question should add or deduct points from the user's score. Every answer selected by the "player" can lead to its own unique action – This way, you can take a student to one window or another (depending on his or her answer) with, say a video that explains why his answer was correct (or incorrect). Or you can chain questions. Depending on the answer, you can open one quiz card or another, essentially creating a conditional question tree.

Scores

You can integrate one or several separate scores to measure different capabilities at a time. For instance, in our Gamification sample we have one score that counts the successful shots you took and another one that refers to your "health": One increases with the targets you shoot and the other decreases with hits you are taking from your opponents. They could also both be accumulating or both deduct points, which is useful if you want to mix a hazard hunt and quiz format in your training, for instance.

Data Visualization / Automatic LMS integration

At the end of a training session your users will be able to see a score screen which depends on the settings you, the author, chose. The user can download his performance sheet as a .cvs file or immediately send it to your LMS system.

Virtual Reality, No VR Glasses Required

VR training sounds complicated and many don't want to invest in getting new VR headsets for the entire workforce or school. Good news is – you don't have to. While VR headsets look like fun and may get your employees' attention at the beginning, more than 90% of the employees actually do virtual tour training on a desktop computer. That means you will be able to run virtual tour trainings on your existing training devices and systems.

3DVista virtual tours only have to be created once and they will automatically be compatible with (almost) any device – Mac, Windows, Desktop Computers, Laptops, mobile phones and tablets (Android & iOs). They will also be fully compatible with VR headsets in Q3, we are at it! In the meantime, you can watch the virtual tours on VR headsets, such as the Oculus Go or Quest (which, by the way, are our two favourites) but the quiz cards and skin elements are not yet visible in VR. The program indicates, which hotspot actions are VR compatible with  little Goggles icon behind them.

So how do we get started?

Virtual Reality worlds can be based on any location, real or imagined. Or a mixture of both. Rather than expensive 3D modelling, our technology is based on 360º images (with a possible 3D transition effect). That means you can even take them yourself with a 360º camera. You can use panoramic photographs (or 360º video for motion picture) or CAD images.

3DVista Virtual Tour PRO is the authoring & publishing program, which allows you to create virtual tours for e-learning, training and assessments all by yourself. As opposed to many "younger" SaaS players in this market, 3DVista is an offline tool, which allows you to create your learning material completely offline, complying with confidentiality requirements and sensitive data while you create material that may contain insights into your business secret.

Not ready to do it in-house yet? 3DVista also has a team specified on creating virtual training material in 360º. Our instructional designers, scriptwriters, photographers, videographers, graphic designers and coders are more than happy to support you or take over any (or all) steps of the process to create a learning experience that is targeted, effective and fun.
