New in 3DVista VT PRO:
Automatically connect all your panoramas!

Do you work on projects with dozens or even hundreds of panoramas close to each other?

We know that manually creating all those connection hotspots can be one of the most tedious parts of the workflow.

That’s why we’ve developed a new smart tool that analyzes, compares, and recognizes your images to automatically create all the necessary connections between panoramas — in just one click.

How it works

Simply select the panoramas you want to connect from the Panoramas → List tab (minimum 5 panoramas). Then click the “Connect Panoramas” button and choose the type of connection you want to create (horizon-level hotspots or floor-level hotspots). From there, VT PRO will take care of the processing. Depending on your processor and the total number of panoramas, the analysis and connection generation may take several minutes or significantly longer for large projects. During this process, the system compares the images, detects matching areas, and automatically creates all required connections with accurately placed hotspots.

Full Process and Recommendations

Before starting the process, we recommend adjusting this value to optimize the results:

Distance to Floor:

Before starting the connection process, define the Distance to Floor value — the height at which the panoramas were captured relative to the ground.
This value will be applied to all selected panoramas, helping VT PRO understand their elevation and placement.
Combined with the distance between two panoramas (defined later in the process), it allows the software to accurately calculate scale and position the hotspots precisely within each panorama.

After clicking the “Connect Panoramas” button to start the process, you’ll be able to fine-tune several settings.

Connection type:

Choose between:

  • Horizon Hotspots: Ideal for aerial or elevated panoramas, this mode creates connections at eye or horizon level, providing a more natural viewing experience when moving between distant or high-angle shots.
  • Floor Hotspots: Designed for ground-level panoramas, this mode places the hotspots on the floor to simulate realistic movement from one position to another — perfect for walkthroughs or indoor navigation.
Use embedded GPS coordinates if available:

When enabled, VT PRO will use the geolocation data stored in your panoramas’ metadata — when available — to improve the accuracy of their spatial alignment.
Keep in mind that only some cameras include GPS information in the captured images, so this option will only have an effect if your panoramas contain that data.
It’s especially helpful for outdoor or aerial projects where GPS positioning enhances connection precision.

Connection Search Type (Fast or Slow):

You can choose between two different connection search modes: Fast or Slow (better connections). The Fast mode uses a quicker matching method, ideal for small or medium projects where speed is a priority. The Slow mode performs a much more exhaustive and detailed comparison between panoramas. While this method can take considerably longer — and increases exponentially with the number of panoramas selected — it often produces more accurate and reliable connections, especially in large or visually complex scenes.

Once the settings are defined, click “Next” to proceed to the next step.

Define the distance between panoramas:

For greater accuracy in hotspot placement, the next step requires defining the approximate distance between two panoramas. Simply select a pair of panoramas that are close to each other and enter the real distance separating them. VT PRO will then understand the scale of the entire scene, allowing it to calculate and distribute the remaining connections with much higher accuracy. Providing an incorrect value may affect the precision of the resulting hotspot placement.

And That’s it!

Now all you have to do is click the “Proceed” button and let VT PRO do the magic for you.
Once the process is complete, an information window will appear summarizing the results — and just like that, all your hotspots will be automatically created across your panoramas.
You can then open and edit them manually if you wish, exactly as if you had created them yourself.

Save hours — and get perfect results

With this new automatic panorama connection tool, what once took hours of repetitive manual work can now be completed in just minutes (or even hours in very large projects — but they’re “hands-off” hours where VT PRO works for you while you focus on something else). To ensure flawless results from the very first run, we recommend that — especially in large projects — you take note of your camera height (including the tripod) and measure at least one real distance between two panoramas during capture. These small details will help VT PRO achieve the most precise and realistic hotspot placement possible.

To achieve the best possible results, it’s important to keep a few limitations in mind. The automatic connection process requires a minimum of 5 panoramas, and they must be captured close to each other with visible overlapping areas. These shared visual elements are what allow the system to detect relationships between panoramas and infer their spatial alignment.

Even under ideal conditions, this is still an automated computer-vision process, which means results may vary depending on the material. It can remove a huge amount of manual work, but it’s not a magic solution — some connections may not be perfect, and a few manual adjustments might still be needed to refine your final tour.

Click and Go Navigation Mode — The perfect combination

Want your tour to feel just like Street View — where you can move freely and naturally, without spending hours manually adjusting every hotspot to match the floor’s perspective?

That’s exactly what the “Click and Go” navigation mode is designed for. It automatically replaces your standard hotspots with default circular markers that dynamically adapt to the floor’s perspective based on their distance, giving your viewers a smooth and realistic navigation experience.

And if you prefer a more minimalist look, you can make those hotspots semi-transparent or completely invisible — you’ll still be able to move between panoramas using the arrow keys or by clicking near the hotspot area.

All of this is explained in more detail in our “Click and Go” feature post.
